Join us for an evening with author, screenwriter and producer Jesse Armstrong as he gives a unique insight into the writing, creation and development of the TV sensation and screen-writing masterpiece, Succession.
The satirical comedy-drama television series which aired on HBO from June, 2018 to May, 2023 has received widespread critical acclaim across all four seasons for its writing, acting, humor, musical score, directing, production values, and examination of its subject matter, and is generally considered to be one of the best television series of all time. It is the winner of thirteen Emmys, five Golden Globes, three BAFTAs and a Grammy.
Succession centers on the Roy family, the owners of global media and entertainment conglomerate Waystar RoyCo, and their fight for control of the company amidst uncertainty about the health of the family’s patriarch, Logan Roy, played by Brian Cox.
July 2023 saw the publication of the complete scripts of Succession: Season Four featuring unseen extra material, including deleted scenes, alternative dialogue and character directions.
While best known as the creator of Succession, Jesse’s writing credits include the Channel 4 sketch show Smack the Pony, the award winning Peep Show, Fresh Meat and the BBC 4 comedy The Thick of It. He is also the author of the novel Love, Sex and Other Foreign Policy Goals.
