Ladies Only – ‘Bad Manners’ West Mercia Women’s Aid Dinner with Amy Beashel and Josie Long

To mark the publication of Bad Manners – a novel inspired by the all-male Presidents Club dinner – author Amy Beashel and Booka are hosting an all-female dinner to raise money for West Mercia Women’s Aid, a local charity that supports women and children who’ve experienced domestic abuse.

Join us for a two-course seated buffet dinner at the stunning Hencote Vineyard, Shrewsbury, with after-dinner entertainment from comedian, podcaster and author Josie Long, who will also interview Amy about the timely issues examined in her book.

Tickets include food, entertainment and a signed hardback copy of Bad Manners.

Described as a “gripping, rage-making read” (Annie Garthwaite) and “unflinching in its interrogation of patriarchal violence” (Rosie Price), Bad Manners explores the fallout of an all-male fundraising dinner upon one family, scrutinising lust and power, the love we want versus the love we take, and the tinderbox secrets that hide so well in the heart of families.

Bad Manners – Synopsis

Would it kill you to smile, darling? Perhaps…

A men-only charity dinner. A clutch of young waitresses.

The jokes are uncomfortable. The hands linger. The collars loosen.

Behind closed doors, the wine flows.

The night is dark. The faces blur. The memories warp.

Behind closed doors, the money flows.

But revenge is sweet and justice is a burning flame.

Behind closed doors, the blood flows…

A fierce and addictive read about lust and power, the love we want versus the love we take, and the tinderbox secrets that hide so well in the heart of families, this is the searing new novel from the author of Spilt Milk.

Tickets: £60 (includes two course buffet dinner, entertainment and a signed copy of Bad Manners)
