Booka are thrilled to present an evening with British cycling legend and Olympic Gold medallist Victoria Pendleton to mark the publication of her new book The Fear Opportunity.

In The Fear Opportunity, Olympic Gold medallist Victoria Pendleton shows just how much you stand to gain by reframing your relationship with fear. This clear and practical book sets out how doing small, everyday things that scare you is the key to building self-confidence, handling anxiety, and coping when life gets bumpy.

The theory is one that drove Victoria to the heights of sporting success, winning multiple medals for cycling across her career. Since retiring, she’s taken on huge challenges, from learning to be a jump jockey despite having barely ridden a horse, to attempting to climb Everest.

But Victoria – alongside the neuroscientists, researchers and psychologists she interviews – is clear that the lessons she’s learned from her extreme experiences can be easily applied to your everyday life.

Don’t miss this opportunity to see and meet a true sporting great and hear her inspirational story!

A true sporting legend Victoria Pendleton is one of Britain’s most successful Olympians, nine-times world champion, winning an incredible 34 World Championship medals over her 12-year sporting career and was the first cyclist to become Sunday Times Sportswoman of the Year.  After she retired from cycling Victoria went on to defy the odds and train as a jump jockey, successfully competing at Cheltenham all while being told that it couldn’t be done. Never afraid to challenge herself, Victoria has competed in celebrity SAS Who Dares Wins, set out and failed to climb Everest and traversed a high wire over the London Olympic Stadium with a heart rate below 60 beats per minute. The Fear Opportunity is Victoria’s first book for 15 years and shows us how we can all benefit from reframing our everyday fears as opportunities, and learn how to use our stress responses in a positive way and find adventure in everyday life.
